AARA

Access arrangements and reasonable adjustments (AARA) are designed to assist students that have disability, impairment and/or medical conditions, or experience other circumstances that may be a barrier to their performance in assessment.

These barriers fall into three broad categories:
  • permanent
  • temporary
  • intermittent.
The QCAA uses broad application categories for AARA eligibility:
  • cognitive
  • physical
  • sensory
  • social/emotional.

Instructions for AARA (QCAA) Applications Year 10 -12

  • To be considered an application must be submitted/prepared in accordance with QCAA published timelines
  • Please refer to the Highfields State Secondary College’s Assessment Policy prior to submission of the application.
  • Granting of AARA is at the discretion of the Deputy/ Principal and the QCAA.
  • The Subject and Assessment section may be completed prior to meeting with student/parent as consultation with teacher/HOD may be required
  • Adjustments must be not interfere with the integrity of the assessment item and must allow the student to meet the achievement standard.
