Highfields State Secondary College offers are vast range of extra-curricular opportunities for students, many without additional costs. The offered clubs and programs are designed to extend and broaden student exposure to specialist areas of the Arts, Sport and Technology.
Art Club is the opportunity to learn and discover more about a diverse range of art materials that you may not get the opportunity to use in your regular art classes. The choir rehearses weekly and performs at a range of events including Eisteddfods, TYME Festival, College ceremonies and the Highfields Community ANZAC Service. The choir performs a range of music from traditional choral to pop & rock music. The Concert Band rehearses weekly and performs at a range of events including Eisteddfods, TYME Festival and College ceremonies. The Concert Band performs a range of music from traditional to pop & rock music. HXDance is a non-auditioned group currently open to all interested students. The dancers will develop their skills of technique (Hip, Hop, Jazz, Contemporary, and Ballet), strength, fitness and flexibility. The HSSC Drama Club is a non-auditioned group open to all interested students. We will meet weekly with the aim of performing at a range of events including Eisteddfods and College ceremonies. Highfields State Secondary College is beginning a proud tradition of excellence in our Instrumental Music Program with courses of study in a variety of instrumental subjects and ensembles. The Jazz Ensemble performs a range of musical styles including jazz, rock, pop, Latin, Motown and funk. Photography Club teaches students about framing, composition and subject, and will be develop their understanding of the technical elements of photography. The String Ensemble rehearses weekly and performs at a range of events including Eisteddfods, TYME Festival and College ceremonies. The String Ensemble performs a range of music The Vocal Ensemble will perform at a range of events, both community and college-based. Students who wish to be part of the vocal ensemble must also be members of the College Choir.
