Assembly News for 9th August 2017

9/08/2017
Assembly : Wednesday, 9th August 2017
Assembly was opened by Deputy Principal – Mrs Jayne Kennedy
Values Certificates: Mrs Barker presented Values Certificates that were awarded by Mrs Kidd to Jack Boston and James Haselam.  Both these boys demonstrated ‘Responsibility’ by being honest and handing in some money that was found in K Block. Well done boys.
Head of Department HPE – Mr Jamie Pukallus
Responsibility: Mr Pukallus explained to students how the HPE teachers spend a lot of time behind the scenes organising transport and planning events for students to attend. The only responsibility students have is to complete their nomination forms and return consent forms from their parents with any money that needs to be paid to attend these events. When these forms are not returned on time, this impacts directly on such events and transport that has been pre-arranged.
Reference was made to a key speaker that spoke to our STEP students earlier in the year at the Brisbane Broncos Headquarters about how we have our own ’brand’.  Our ‘brand’ says a lot about us and how other people perceive us.  Our brand isn’t just about having good sportsmanship, it is also about our commitment level.  We want our school to be viewed in a positive way because of both our good sportsmanship and high commitment levels, so if you can’t commit to an event please don’t sign up.
All Schools Touch: 13 and 15 Year Old Girls participating in the touch football carnival this coming Sunday were requested to remain behind after assembly and see Mr Pukallus.
Head of Department – Sara Abawi
HSSC School Musical : In Pursuit of Fame: Students were reminded that the musical is on next week on Thursday, Friday and Saturday so don’t forget to purchase your tickets. The cost is only $8 for students and it would be fantastic if we could have lots of students come along and support their peers because they have been working extra hard all year getting ready for this event.
Deputy Principal – Mrs Jayne Kennedy
Students were reminded that Periods 1 and 3 were swapped for today only.
Assembly was closed by Mrs Kennedy.
Photographs from today’s assembly will appear in next week’s newsletter.
