25/10/2017
Assembly : Wednesday, 25th October 2017
Assembly was opened by Deputy Principal Mrs Jayne Kennedy.
Mrs Kennedy has returned from leave this week and wished all students a productive and enjoyable remaining term 4.
Undercover Areas: A reminder was given that no games involving the kicking of balls is to occur in and around the school buildings. These areas are too confined and it is a requirement of Workplace Health and Safety.
Solid Pathways Program: Ms Barker presented Mollie Scofield with her Certificate of Participation and medallion for her involvement in the Critical and Creative Thinking Program 2017 which was explained on assembly two weeks ago.
Supper Club – Thursday 2nd November 2017: Ms Abawi invited all students to come along and support their fellow Arts students at the Supper Club next Thursday night. This evening is a big showcase event for the Arts Department where the Drama, Dance and Music students get to celebrate all their hard work for the year.  Some of the staff will be participating in this event too.  Cost is $10 per person with doors open at 6:00pm for a 6:30pm start.  Platters of food can be pre-ordered for $12 and $15 and are being organised by our Business students. Displays of artworks from our Visual Arts and Photography students will also be on display showcasing their talents and skills.
Year 6 Transition Days: This Thursday and Friday we have Year 6 students visiting the College for their transition days.  Mr Pukallus thanked all the students who had volunteered to be buddies for these days. He was overwhelmed with the response received.  The selected buddy students were requested to meet in D03 at 2nd break today. If students couldn’t attend the meeting details would be placed on the noticeboard near C Block staffroom.  Buddies were asked to meet the Year 6 students and their parents in the undercover area each morning from 8:30am and assist them by locating their name tags, talking to their parents and help settle the students by playing a game.  Transition students will be based in the undercover area in P Block for their lunch breaks so Year 10 students were requested to relocate for the following two days.
All students were reminded to represent the College in a positive way by modelling good behaviours and by being helpful.
Value Certificates:  Year 7 and 8 boys who participated in the Rugby League Gala Day were awarded Values Certificates for demonstrating ‘Responsibility’ by Mr Dyson.  These boys were undefeated in this competition and were the winning team on the day.  Mr Dyson was impressed with their excellent behaviour both on and off the field.  Ms Barker and Mr Manteufel presented the boys with their certificates and the comment was made that hopefully we might see one of these boys wearing green and gold representing their country sometime in the future.
Photographs from today’s assembly will appear in this week’s newsletter.
Assembly was closed by Mrs Kennedy.
