Assembly News for 14th March 2018

Assembly was opened by Mrs Kennedy
Value Certificates: Mrs Kennedy and Ms Barker awarded Value Certificates for the school value of Persistence to all of Mrs Watts’s Friday Night Basketball players. Each student who participated was commended for their team commitment.
National Day of Action Against Bullying and Violence: Mr Manteufel informed students that Friday, 16th March is National Day of Action Against Bullying and Violence. Students are encouraged to wear orange on Friday to show their support for victims of bullying nationwide. Emily Chambers was invited to the microphone to talk about one of the activities that will be running in the Resource Centre at 2nd break on Friday called the ‘Buddy Activity’. The Buddy Activity will be open to all students, and will consist of some advice for what to do if you are being bullied. Other activities being run by House Captains will include a hand ball tournament in the undercover area at 2nd break and a game of Capture the Flag on the oval. All students are encouraged to participate.
Vivo Rewards: Mr Manteufel presented five students with their vivo prizes. Students are awarded vivo points by staff for good behaviour in class/out in the playground and for following our school values. New rewards that are school based incentives are being added next term for students to select including $3-5 vouchers for the school canteen, a ticket that allows a student to have lunch with a selected teacher and for senior students, a VIP parking space.
World’s Greatest Shave: Kilian Keenan and Brianna Robertson informed students about activities happening tomorrow for the World’s Greatest Shave which is an awareness day for Leukemia and blood cancer. Students are encouraged to wear either a crazy wig, ridiculous hat or funny hair accessory and to bring along a gold coin as a donation. At 2nd break, Deputy Principal Mrs Priebe will be shaving her head in the undercover area for the cause and if the College raises over $500, Head of Department for Technology, Mr Odell has also promised to shave his head and beard. All students were encouraged to come along and watch.
