Assembly News for 14th June 2017

Assembly was opened by Deputy Principal, Mrs Jayne Kennedy.
Change to timetable: Periods 2 and 3 will be swapped today except for Year 9 Ag students.
Reminder: ArTECh Day and Red Food Day will be happening next Friday 23rd June.

Trials for Athletics Day: Today at first lunch will be the boys 400m and 16 year old girls javelin trials. Second lunch will be 16 year old girls 400m and javelin for boys. Trials from Tuesday that were cancelled will now be occurring tomorrow.
Athletics Carnival: Happening this Friday, 16th June and this is our biggest event for ‘House Spirit’ award.  Staff will be looking for the house that has the largest number of students participating in all events including the novelty events, the loudest cheering house and students wearing the best dress-ups in house colours.
Wednesday Afternoon Sports: During Period 4 today we will be running alternate athletics activities instead of sport. This is to allow us to complete some pre-trials for 100m, 200m and the javelin event. The overview of the afternoon is as follows -
All Years 7-9 students (excluding musical) are to go immediately to the undercover area at the beginning of Period 4 and sit in their form classes as per assembly. Teachers will mark the roll. Students will be briefed on the afternoon’s activities and sent off. Students wishing to secure their bags will be able to put them in an E block classroom. Otherwise bags stay at the undercover area. At the conclusion of the activities, students will collect bags and head home at 3pm.
Any students who are in the musical and wish to compete in any of this afternoon’s events will be asked to see a HPE staff member to arrange an alternate trial time.
Term 3 Wednesday Afternoon Sports: Sign-up sheets for next term will be placed in the undercover area this week.
USQ Science and Engineering Challenge: Participation Certificates were awarded to 27 students that attending this event last month.
Values Certificates: The following students were awarded ‘Responsibility’ Values Certificates by Mrs Menkins for using their drone technology at the Hampton Food Festival  -
Year 10 Drone Technology students  - Jackson Granzien, Harrison Hartley, Georgia Katopodis, Patrick King, Zane Kitchener, Breanna Pledge and Andrew Williams..
Mr Langerak awarded ‘Responsibility’ Values Certificates to Will Parker, Josh Green, Ashley Farhadi, Eloise Phillips, Hannah Maunder, Campbell Adam, Jasmine Kelly, Kate Beahan, Nadine Jones, Ben, Aiden, Maddy, Sam Parker,  Caleb Murphy, Emily Hooper, Luke Hanlin and Matthew Culleton for attending the Maths Competition and representing our College in a positive light.
Mrs Beahan awarded ‘Responsibility’ Values Certificates to Lewis Barter, Lucy Major, Bethanny, Caleb Marriott and Lachlan Stein for great organisational skills demonstrated by submitting their science assignments early.
Finally, Mrs Shoemaker awarded ‘Kindness’ Values Certificates to Breanna Pledge, Ryley Allen, Deklan Branson and Tim O’Brien for showing kindness to others.
