Assembly News for 13th September 2017

Assembly was opened by Deputy Principal – Mrs Jayne Kennedy
NAPLAN Readiness Test (NRT): Mr Vriesema advised students of the room changes for today due to the NAPLAN Readiness Test occurring for Year 7 and 9 students.
Values Certificates: Ms Illona Beningfield awarded Values Certificates to the following students for demonstrating ‘Responsibility’ whilst participating in the Darling Downs Cup at Nell E Robinson which they attended on 3rd September: -
Kate Beahan, Mackenzie Casey, Abby Coleborn, Hayley Ruming, Georgia Connolly, Jade (no media permission given for surname), Georgia Katopodis, Chelsea Maddern, Teryn Smith, Saoirse Jibson, Emily Chambers, Emelia Wingrave and Keyarni Mahuze.
Interim Reports for Term 3: Mr Norris informed students that interim reports will be emailed home to parents/carers tomorrow. He asked all students to make sure they read their reports and used the opportunity to make any changes/improvements before the end of term 4.  Information for parent/teacher interviews occurring in week 2 term 4 will also be included in this email.  Mr Norris suggested that students attend these interviews.
It was noted that a large number of students had received ‘excellent’ ratings for their effort and behaviour however Mr Norris asked that students take on the ‘growth mindset’ by trying to find ways to improve their results through their grades.
Subject Selections: Subject Selections have been submitted and will be finalised throughout term 4.  Some students were requested to remain behind after assembly to see the Deputy Principals in relation to their subject selections.
Term 4 Sport Selections: Today is the last chance to nominate so students would need to write their name down under their preferred sport by the end of second lunch.
School Musical: The full cast, crew, band and backstage members of our first ever school musical ‘In Pursuit of Fame’ were awarded Certificates from the Music Department thanking them for the fantastic effort that each individual played in showcasing our students’ varied talents.
Happy Holidays: Both Deputy Principals, Mr Norris and Mrs Kennedy asked students to enjoy the last three days of term and wished all students a happy and safe holiday. They both look forward to seeing students back at the school on Tuesday, 3rd October with fresh faces and ready to learn.
